Liip Blog:
Recap Symfony Live Conference in Paris
March 08, 2011 @ 08:36:58

On the Liip blog today there's a write up from David Buchmann about the just-passed Symfony Live conference that happened in Paris. his recap covers some of the high points of the event including sessions from the Liip-ers in the crowd.

Last week, there was the Symfony Live conference in Paris. The conference was surprisingly big, about 500 developers came together in the impressing building of Cité Universitaire Internationale. The main topic was of course the upcoming Symfony2 release. We had two days of talks and a hackday on Saturday, and lots of fun every night. The topics are on the conference website, some discussion and slides are on joind.in.

He mentions some of the "state of Symfony2" updates that were mentioned and some of the talks that were given by the Liip employees including ones on the Symfony2 CMF project, RabbitMQ and Symfony2, security and Javascript.

Symfony Blog:
Symfony Live Unconference
February 18, 2011 @ 10:03:49

On the Symfony blog today Stefan Koopmanschap has announced the Symfony Live Unconference that will be happening at the same time as the second day of the Symfony Live Paris event.

It is with great pleasure that I present to you the Symfony Live Unconference. The Unconference will take place parallel to the second day of Symfony Live 2011 in Paris, and is sponsored by Interlutions and my own company Ingewikkeld.

The event opens the floor to anyone wanting to come and present on their topic - something Symfony or PHP development related, obviously. You can find out more about this new addition to the Symfony Live Paris event on its page and start getting those slides ready!

ServerGrove Blog:
Why Symfony2 already rocks
February 04, 2011 @ 10:49:30

On the ServerGrove blog today there's a quick new post about why they think Symfony2 already rocks when it comes to features and community.

We have talked quite a bit about Symfony2 earlier in this blog, and like everyone else we are really excited about it. It is a complete rewrite of the framework taking advantage of many of the newest features of PHP 5.3, and let me tell you, it is quite amazing.

They've been using the Symfony2 preview releases to power a control panel for their virtual server offerings. He talks about the current state of the project (features including Twig, a HTTP cache, debugging and security tools) and mentions the Symfony Live event happening in San Francisco next week (more here).

Symfony Live Conferences Updates
January 28, 2011 @ 09:10:43

On the Symfony blog today there's some new updates about their upcoming SymfonyLive events posted - both for the San Francisco and Paris conferences.

I've already posted about the Symfony Live Conferences schedule a few weeks ago, but since then, we have added quite a few sessions from top-notch speakers.

San Francisco will be getting a talk from Dustin Whittle (a Symfony core team member) as well as Kris Wallsmith speaking about Assetic (an asset management library for PHP 5.3). Those attending the Paris conference will be happy to know that Weka Entertainment, the developers of a major Facebook game, will be on hand to talk about how they migrated everything to Symfony in less than three months.

You can find out more about these conferences on the Symfony Live website.

First of all, I wish you a very happy new year! I wish you the best and I hope 2011 will be a big year for symfony and Symfony2. 2011 is getting off to a great start with the Symfony Live conferences. As you might have noticed, we have unveiled the schedule for the Symfony Live conference in Paris and San Francisco a couple of weeks ago.

Speakers and topics featured in San Francisco include Tom Boutell on Apostrophe, a real world session on Symfony2 and Scott Chacon's talk on git. In Paris you can see Josh Holmes talk about simplicity, Thomas Rabaix on Solr and more about the "big plans" Lukas Smith and others are making about Symfony2 and CMSs.
