Pre-conference workshops at SymfonyLive London 2018 are almost sold out!
Sep 10, 2018 @ 18:29:31

On the Symfony blog there's a new post for those that have been putting off getting their tickets to SymfonyLive London and, more specifically, the pre-conference workshops. Time is limited and the training sessions are almost sold out!

All Symfony conferences come with pre-conference workshops. We organized them to enable the conference attendees to get trained on Symfony and its ecosystem just before the conference, during special workshops sessions at a very special price. The idea is to get the most out of the conference and enhance your Symfony skills before learning new tips and tricks from the speakers’ experience during the conference. We organize 4 different pre-conference workshops at SymfonyLive London 2018 on September 27th and they are almost all sold out!

They also share a listing of the pre-conference workshops happening at this year's event:

  • "Symfony 4 Best Practices" by Nicolas Grekas from Symfony
  • "Building API-driven apps with API Platform" by Kévin Dunglas from Les-Tilleuls.coop
  • "Symfony Messenger" by Samuel Rozé, creator of the component
  • "Lightning Fast Tests" by Jakub Zalas, Symfony core team member

Each workshop title in the post is a link to more information about the workshop and how to pick up your tickets. For more information about the conference, ticket pricing and to order yours, check out the main conference site.

Jul 18, 2018 @ 20:38:01

On the Symfony project blog they've posted an announcement about the opening of the SymfonyLive Berlin 2018 Call for Papers.

Berlin will see its next SymfonyLive from October 24th to 26th! This year, we are moving to a new, but familiar, venue: the Mercure MOA, where the international SymfonyCon 2016 took place.

As usual for the Berlin edition, we will have two days of workshops, and a single day conference with two tracks full of talks about Symfony and related technologies.

The call for papers is open and will end July 31st. They're looking for a wide range of topics including developer workflows, modern Javascript and, of course, Symfony features. The post also talks about what kind of speakers they're looking for and about the workshop schedule.

SymfonyLive San Francisco: We’re back!
Dec 29, 2016 @ 17:15:50

On the Symfony blog there's an announcement about the return of SymfonyLive San Francisco, coming back after the unfortunate cancelation of SymfonyLive Chicago. SymfonyLive San Francisco will be October 19th and 20th at the Crunchyroll offices.

SymfonyLive is coming back, that’s right, back to our beloved San Francisco for a whole new chapter in our conference series for 2017 and we just had to share the news with you right away!

As some of you may remember, last year’s SymfonyLive Chicago was cancelled and we were pretty disappointed. But we didn’t let it get us down and in 2017 we’re coming back even stronger and setting up shop again!

We’re going to need your help to make this conference a huge success, so please SAVE THE DATE in next year’s calendar and, write in SymfonyLive San Francisco 2017 October 19th-20th!

The actual event will span from October 17th through 20th but the first two days of that will be training sessions, not regular conference talks. The website for the event isn't up yet but more information about the event will be coming soon including the opening of their Call for Papers. Keep an eye on the Symfony blog for more details as they are released.

Symfony in the US: News from North America!
Sep 22, 2016 @ 15:55:35

On the Symfony blog there's an announcement about a few Symfony speakers that are coming to North America (despite the cancelation of SymfonyLive here in the U.S.). These speakers will be a part of the "Symfony Live Track" at this year's php[world] conference happening in Washington, D.C. in November.

In reality, Symfony owes its success to countless people and companies who have not only used Symfony, they've become evangelists, by showing Symfony to friends, writing blog posts, speaking at user groups, creating bundles and using Symfony to create real-world apps that do incredible things.

[...] All that work has made Symfony hugely popular in Europe and other places. And now, we're turning up the heat where I live: the USA! Adoption is already growing fast - especially with the release of Drupal 8 - but there's still a huge opportunity to evangelize and support Symfony here.

[The track]https://world.phparch.com/session-track/symfony/) will include talks from Fabien Potencier and Nicolas Grekas and others. It will cover topics like:

  • Symfony 3, the Key Concepts
  • Migration Guide to Symfony 3.0
  • Profiling PHP Applications
  • Symfony vs Silex, Micro vs Full Stack

Check out the full track for more information about these and other talks to be presented during the week.

Symfony Blog:
We're sorry to announce the cancellation of the SymfonyLive Chicago 2016
Aug 11, 2016 @ 15:49:08

On the Symfony Blog there's a sad announcement that they are having to cancel SymfonyLive Chicago for their 2016 event.

We are very sorry to inform you that we are canceling the SymfonyLive Chicago conference this October 13th and 14th.

After much pained reflection, we realize that we have no choice. Our venue requires a minimum number of attendees, a number from which we are too far, and we know that over the next two months, we cannot possibly meet the requirement.

We have never held a SymfonyLive conference in Chicago before and were hoping to extend the Symfony community’s reach to the mid-west. Unfortunately, it just won’t be possible this year. However, we are confident that with another year of work, we will be able to bring the SymfonyLive back to the United States and hope that you will still be interested in our common goals to keep improving the framework for the benefit of everyone!

They do note, however, that both SymfonyLive London and SymfonyLive Berlin are still on and registration is open for both.
