The Seattle PHP User Group is having this month's meeting tonight (the 3rd) starting at 6:30pm at Market Leader, Inc featuring talka from Brian Swan on "PHP on Azure" and Jesse Keating on "Git".

Market Leader,Inc. is graciously hosting the venue for Seattle PHP Meetup in Kirkland, WA this month!! In fact, Ariz Jacinto (long-time member & frequent presenter at our Meetups), an employee of Market Leader, Inc., has gone bonkers and lined up a killer night for us all! Note the entrance and then celebrate the FREE PARKING!!

Brian Swan is a Microsoft advocate for PHP on Windows and Jesse Keating is the release engineer for Fedora Core. There's still time to RSVP on Meetup and attend this event - be sure to sign up so they know how many to expect!

The Newsvine Team is looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and passionate front-end developer to join us in building products and services for the Newsvine platform. Your primary responsibility will be to design and develop site features and functionality in a multi-tier web environment using PHP, CSS, JavaScript, and the YUI JavaScript library. Additional responsibilities include daily site support and maintenance. The ideal candidate is able to work on small teams under tight deadlines with little supervision. A computer science degree or equivalent is a plus, but experience, skill, and attention to detail are more important.

The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the following knowledge areas:

  • X/HTML, CSS, DOM, and JavaScript
  • PHP or similar scripting language
  • Mastery of web standards and cross-browser compatibility

Preferable Job Qualifications:

  • Experience working on large-scale, high-availability web sites
  • Successful industry experience using latest DHTML and ajax technologies
  • Experience with SQL and relational database implementations serving as the backend to production web applications
  • Experience with, or an interest in, working with the YUI JavaScript library
  • Familiarity with Subversion a plus

Extensive knowledge of the following is required: PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, CSS/CSS2, HTML, concepts of software architecture, software development fundamentals, object-oriented design (OOD), AJAX driven data handling, software debugging, and written communication. Extremely organized and a detail / deadline-oriented team player. Flexible, adaptable, able to understand and remain focused on objectives in a fast paced environment. Proficiency in Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop and other graphic design applications a plus.
