This month's edition of php|architect magazine has been released - the January 2008 edition. Articles included in this month's issue include:

  • PHAR: PHP Archive Files from Gregory Beaver
  • Webmail 2.0: Introducing RoundCube by Tim Klampackel
  • Killing the For Loop from Paul Chandler
  • The Doctrine Framework by Nicolas Berard-Nault
  • and the usual columns - /Etc and Test Pattern

If you're already subscribed, you should be getting your issue any time now but, if you're not, there's two ways you can get your hands on a copy - either "quick buy" it from the php|architect website or subscribe and get this and other great future issues jam packed full of great PHP content.

php|architect has releeased their latest edition of their magazine today - the January 2006 issue.

Articles in this issue include:

  • PDFLib's Block Tool by Ron Goff
  • PHP Look Back 2005 by Derick Rethans
  • Internationalize Your Web Application With Less PHP Code from Carl McDade
  • and the usual columns: Security Corner (Chris Shiflett), Tips & Tricks (Ben Ramsey), and Test Patterns (by Marcus Baker)

You can either pick up a single issue of this month's edition, or you can subscribe for a year to either the print or PDF editions. There's even an older issue you can check out for free to get a feel for the magazine!

January Meeting - Model-view-controller frameworks

The Utah PHP Users Group has posted this infromation about their upcoming meeting (January 19th, 2006) and what the presentation will be.

Richard Miller will present on Model-View-Controller (MVC) Frameworks. MVC framework Ruby on Rails has received a lot of attention in the past year for making web app development easier and more enjoyable. Several similar frameworks are available for PHP. Special guest appearance by John Peterson of MyTechSupport.com, the creators of a PHP framework called PHP on Trax. PHP on Trax was used to rapidly develop KatrinaHousing.org, a highly trafficked website that helped hurricane victims find housing.

The latest edition of the International PHP Magazine has been released today - January (01.2006), the first edition of the new year.

Some of the articles inside in this edition include:

  • Barry McKay's look at OOP PHP in Business
  • a new edition of Marcus Whitney's "PHP5 Tried For You"
  • Elizabeth Naramore talking a bit about "PHP From the Shop Floor", talking to two inovators that use PHP to track the Earth's environment
  • Robert Peake spends some more time looking at patters in PHP
  • and much, much more...
