SEGA Europe Limited is a rapidly expanding computer games publisher within the western market and is the European distribution arm of its Japanese parent company, a worldwide leader in interactive entertainment both inside and outside the home. SEGA develops, publishes and distributes interactive entertainment software products for a variety of hardware platforms including PC and wireless devices. SEGA is growing rapidly due to the success of its computer game titles and its aggressive acquisition of prominent games developers (e.g., The Creative Assembly, Sports Interactive), the founding of new subsidiaries in France, Germany and Spain and others soon to be added as part of planned growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Developing new systems for the Online Services Division and the rest of the company
• Managing all key aspects of the Online Services Division
• Maintaining front end websites
• Maintaining backend CMS systems

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Proven experience of working in a technical role for an online services team preferably for a video games publisher
• Excellent people skills
• Good commercial understanding and ability to translate this into efficient actions
• Precise understanding of web programming efficiencies and how it can enhance website publishing for a video games developer/publisher such as SEGA
• Proven experience managing and developing CMS and CRM systems
• Excellent communication skills
• Computer science degree 2:1 or higher
• High level of skills using PHP, MySQL, administering Linux and Windows-based web servers

Essential Technical Skills:

• Educated to degree level in computing related field
• Advanced PHP 4/5 knowledge/experience - key requirement
• Proven experience of managing Windows and Linux Servers - Microsoft IIS/Apache
• Advanced database design experience including advanced knowledge of MySQL versions 4 and 5
• HTML and XHTML
• CSS
• Complete project life cycle experience
• Knowledge of web standards and browser compliancy
• Experience of using OOAD
• E-commerce experience
• Report/documentation writing and research experience
• Experience of creating and working with web services

Desirable Technical Skills:

• Design patterns
• UML
• Unit testing and Load testing
• Microsoft Project and Microsoft SQL Server
• XMl and XSLT

Aptitudes/Attributes:

• Excellent standard of general education
• Extensive commercial development experience in a similar environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to manage own time
• Must be self motivated
• Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
• Able to pro-actively put forward ideas
• Team player with flexibility when required
