SitePoint PHP Blog:
Functional Prog, Distributed DBs, JSON-Patch and More!
Oct 07, 2015 @ 15:31:27

The SitePoint PHP blog has posted a wrapup/review of the WebCampZG conference that happened in Croatia back on October 3rd & 4th (2015). It's "an annual conference for web developers, held in Zagreb on the first weekend of October".

This weekend, Chris Ward (the mobile channel editor at SitePoint) and me attended [Webcamp ZG](http://www.sitepoint.com/webcamp-zagreb-2015-a-conference-you-must-not-miss), the annual international web-oriented conference in Zagreb, Croatia. [...] The conference is a two day event, each day spearheaded by a keynote type of talk before diving into the bulk of the content. The schedules of both days contained plenty of breaks with food, drinks and snacks scattered throughout, providing for both energy and excellent socialization and networking contexts.

He covers both days of the event, talking about the sessions that were presented (including one from SitePoint-er Chris Ward) and the evening activities that followed. Despite some missteps in session content and the wifi - always a problem at tech conferences - Bruno found the event "a blast" and plans on attending in the future.

SitePoint PHP Blog:
Announcing PHP Summer Camp
Jun 17, 2014 @ 16:22:07

The SitePoint PHP blog has a new post officially announcing the PHP Summer Camp, an event being held in Rovinj, Croatia on September 3rd through 6th with a larger focus on Symfony and related technology.

The Summer Camp is a two-in-one type of event that focuses on practical workshops and training. [...] The Summer Camp is the perfect middle ground between conferences and official training camps/academies, lacking the formality but exceeding conference-type gatherings in that one practical regard: unlike conferences, which are often little more than glorified slideshows, attendees go home from PSC with new, practical, usable knowledge that can be applied immediately, because they then have actual hands on experience with everything the speakers talked about.

Since it's happening at the same time and same place as the eZ Summer Camp, there'll be a wide range of sessions to choose from. He includes a quick list of some of the topics that'll be covered including Symfony+Behat, using Sylius, REST APIs with Symfony and using the CMF for a CMS. He includes some shots of the location and links to the travel and accommodation information for those interested in attending.

ZgPHP Mini-Conference Announced
Aug 20, 2013 @ 19:02:52

The Zagreb PHP user group has officially announced the first conference to be held in Croatia. This one-day conference will be held September 14th at Hrvatska Gospodarska Komora.

As second anniversary of ZgPHP meetups is coming soon, we decided to organize a mini PHP conference in Zagreb, first PHP conference in this region. It will be held in Croatian Chamber of Economy, Nova Cesta 7, Zagreb on September 14th. [...] On our mailing lists, Facebook & Twitter we have around 250 members, in average we have 25 visitors on each of our monthly meetups and for mini conference we are hoping to gather 120 PHP developers (not only Zagreb but Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Slovenia …).

The event's call for papers is also currently open and will be until August 25th. If you're interested in speaking at this event, you can find information for submitting in the post. If you plan on attending, sign up on the Meetup page. They've also posted the fist round of speakers and sessions there as well.

Date_Holidays Frenzy - and a little update
Feb 28, 2011 @ 16:06:25

Ken Guest has a recent post talking about some recent updates that have been made surrounding the PEAR support for finding holiday dates in various parts of the world.

In the space of just under a month Date_Holidays_Croatia and Date_Holidays_Australia were released – many thanks to the guys who did the actual hard work to be fair as all I did was package them up and release them!

You can find more of these Date packages on the PEAR site that could help you and your application get things a bit more localized. He also reminds you that, if you'd like to help out and pick up support for some of the older, unmaintained packages, you can follow this guide and get started easily.
