New from Zend this morning, is their latest PHP Weekly Summary, covering just some of the advancements in PHP in the last week.

This week's edition covers some great ground, including something that sounds quite promising - embedding PHP inside of an application. For a long time now, the more technical users of PHP have been looking for a way to embed PHP in their applications. That wait is now over, thanks to Edin Kadribasic. They even have a sample of how it works. This could be awesome, and definitely extend the reach of PHP to more and more people.

Some of the other smaller topics that are covered this week, including fixing the .phps for Apache 2, fixing problems with the streams support and some major improvements to the string functions to speed them up even more.
