Too many sites out there lack purpose - they are there just for the sake of being there. Corporate sites that are just a "shell", providing just the smallest of information, like contact addresses or product lists, or "community sites" that just spout off meaningless drivel (hmm, is that what this is?).

Well, over on Alistapart.com, they have a list for those people out there that "make websites" - basically ranging from anyone that works professionally making sites, to little Jimmy, making his first attempt at a "real website". This list has some really good suggestions on it, things like "Make good friends" and "Find good enemies", things that will help your site grow and a community site flourish. Some of the suggestions, I think are a little off, and maybe directed more at people writing weblogs (see "Be sexy"), but you get the idea. It's a good overall concept, and this list could help you turn that boring old site into something with a bit more pizzaz...
