Speaking of Zend this morning, they have their latest PHP Weekly Summary posted this morning.
There's not really anything overly impressive in this one, except for a discussion that has been going on about changing the PHP ini files into actual PHP scripts, but it's not being received too well. Apart from the fact that it would be opening a very big can of worms, PHP itself relies on the .INI file to set default behaviors, creating a very nasty “chicken-and-egg” problem.
Some of the other topics covered are: the COM extension still being broken, the public location of the PHP 3.0 license, and the work on the new ODBC extension for the release of PHP 5.
