From the fine folks at CodeWalkers.com (you know, the ones that support that contest that Zend puts on biweekly), there's a new kind of contest starting up. The point of the CodeWalkers PHP Open Source Challenge is:
is to create a real world application that will then be released under an Open Source compatible license. There will be a new challenge released every 30-45 days depending on the complexity of the challenge. The winner of the contest will receive a copy of SourceGuardian, three months of hosting from TheHostingCompany.us, and a choice of any book from Wrox Press.
The first challenge that they have posted is to make a searching application that not only allows you to search the pages of a site (HTML) but also the infomation in a database. They have all sorts of rules over on their page, and you'll need to look carefully at them if you want to accept this challenge. It doesn't seem much different from their normal PHP Coding contest, except that the prize is a bit bigger. (Also, thanks to Daniel for pointing this one out.)
