Taming the Beast:
Installing PHP-GTK
Aug 09, 2002 @ 11:53:25

Right on the heels of the PHP-GTK tutorial posted over on Zend this morning, SitePoint had to keep up and has their own. Run PHP-GTK and PHP-Apache on Win32 starts you off with a basic install, complete with reasons why it may not work (some common ones anyway), and then dives right into the actual code. The code that they give you is just a simple "Hello World" window, but it helps you make sure that your install is working.

This article teaches you less about the PHP-GTK functionality and how to use it than the other Zend article does, but it's still nice to have more than one point of view on installing this useful addition to PHP. There was a big push for PHP-GTK when it first came out, but there really hasn't been that "killer app" that anyone's written with it to make it more popular in the PHP world - at least not that I know of (feel free to prove me wrong).
