Flash is Hookin' Up:
Web Forms with Flash
Aug 08, 2002 @ 11:51:50

Anyone that reads this site on a regular basis knows what I think about Flash and PHP and creating a more rich web environment using the two. Working them together so that you get the speed and abilities of PHP with the look and feel of some of the nicer Flash pieces out there. It seems like everyone and their dog are doing Flash on their site, but they're missing out on the big part - integration with databases, XML, or other information sources to create a more useful tool.

DevShed.com brings us one step closer this morning, with their latest article - Building Web Forms In Flash. The piece takes you from your current knowlegde of Flash (you do know some Flash, right?) and some basic PHP scripting and shows you how to get an interface with Flash on the backend working (even insert new information).

The Flash ActionScript language has come a long way since they introduced it really in Flash 4, and it's more robust and full for features than it was then too. Syntax is more well defined and the structure of the resulting code "feels more right" than it used to.
