Practicing the Best Practices
Jul 30, 2002 @ 11:48:28

Lo and behold, the folks over at PHPBuilder.com have decided to grace us with another article! (I give them a hard time about it only because I hope in maybe some way that Internet.com will realize their mistake and pick the site for one of the most influential web scripting langauges back up and run with it. Oh well...).
Anyway, the latest from them is a new article about Best practices when it comes to developing database driven, session orientated dynamic websites and to present some adopted styles and conventions.
There's tons of these kinds of articles out there, and most are just opinions, but a lot of the suggestions that he mentions here are good, but are common knowledge. Mostly, it just revolves around not storing the same data over and over again in different tables - with makes sense to most people, but some newbies might just think "oh, I need all of this information in one table so I can use it all at once!" Wrong - go read up on joins, they are your friends.
