Right on the heels of the Google API story posted yesterday, there's yet another story about a new web service that Amazon.com is offering from their sites. (News.com) On http://www.amazon.com/webservices they describe the services that they plan to offer, and, thankfull, it appears to be free (for the time). You can either use the PEAR SOAP class to interface with it, or good old XML - and fetch information in either a "summary" form or a heavy "detailed" description of the product.
We at Amazon.com want to see Web services work. We believe they are important to the future of the Internet. To help stimulate Web service innovation, we now offer software developers the opportunity to integrate Amazon.com features and content directly into other web sites using either SOAP or XML over HTTP.
It's about time someone else jumped on the bandwagon and got something like this rolled out - I just know there's going to be tons of new advances with this one, just as there was with the Google APIs.
