Builder has a new article this morning on PostgreSQL v.s. MySQL. It offers a side by side comparison of the two databases, as well as giving examples of when to use each. In the end, the author basically says: "Both databases are good at certain things, and use them when it's necessary". This is better than the classic: "PostgreSQL is better! No, MySQL is!" arguments we see so often. Check out the rest of the article.
Easino.com has an interview with PostNuke chieftan John Cox. He seems honest with his questions, and doesn't get overly "cheerleaderish" with PostNuke. It's an interesting read, so check it out.
DevArticles has a new tutorial on how to create those emoticon (smiley faces and what not) you see on many of the forums these days. It shows you how to do it using PHP and MySQL of course. So head on over and find out how to create those emoticons
Zend apparently updated their Zend Studio 2.5 yesterday. For those of you using the product, check out 2.5b which includes an updated Apache. It's probably their to handle the latest Apache bugs.
And finally, Jason Martin sent in a tutorial on How to create your own PHP portal. Rather than use PostNuke, GeekLog, or (*gasp!*) PHPNuke, you can roll your own. Check out the tutorials, it's pretty fun.
Well, today is my last day as your PHPDeveloper news guy. Next week, enygma will be back in the captains chair. I hope I filled your week with as much PHPDev'ness as you could handle.
