The people over at BadBlue have released the PHP ShareOffice library. This library is meant to interface nicely with MS Excel and Access on local and remote computers. Very nice idea. Examples and documentation can be found here, and yes, it is free.
Zend has 2 new one's for you. Zend's PHP Weekly Summary which include information on ZE2 with $argc,$argv, Win32 snapshot problems, Apache 2 support, PHP and Java re-visited, phpinfo() with CLI, Session handler with MM, LDAP functions.
Zend also had a new tutorial up, the 3rd in the series. Author John Coggeshall covers Creating Shell Scripts using PHP 4. It's a short piece, but covers creating a BlackJack game via the CLI (command line interface), and he continues on from last week.
Finally, for those bleeding edge fanatics that just have to try the latest and the greatest, the PHP Group have released Alpha 2 of PHP with the new Zend Engine 2. Note, this is NOT for production release (yes, Alpha 2 means it's still not completely done). As they say: "This is an alpha version. It should not be used in production or even semi-production web sites. There are known bugs in it, and in addition, some of the features may change (based on feedback). We encourage you to download and play with it (and report bugs if you find any!), but please don't expect it to replace your copy of PHP 4 at this stage.". You can get the download here.
Well, I hope I did a good job. I know I am not enygma, but hey, at least you got your news.
