First off this morning, EvilWalrus.com is hosting a "contest" of sorts for their site design. They want a new look for the popular site, and are looking to their users to create something. They're looking for a total redesign too - so get as crazy and different from their current layout as you'd want.
We want to have a new, redesigned site launched by the time we hit 1,000,000 script views. We need a complete, modern, and classy redesign of the site. We're leaning towards something techy and possibly "metal". The winning user will have his/her design used on EvilWalrus.com. Also, if you're wondering, yes, we want a TOTAL redesign.. That means a total redesign of the site's visual look as well as the content layout. Thanks again for entering!

There's two things from Zend this morning - first off, they have the latest PHP Weekly Summary posted. There's some small things in this one, including a mention of PHP 4.2.2, working to get PHP working on Windows CE, and a few other minor bugs. Nothing overly exciting this time...sorry...
And, secondly, they have the latest Code Gallery Contest (sponsored by Codewalkers.com). The current contest is called "The 15 Puzzle" and is like those toy puzzles you got when you were a kid, the kind that you could only slide the pieces around. The idea is that, given any puzzle.txt file, your script could take and "slide" the pieces into the correct places so that they are in number order. Sounds like a fun one - better get coding!
And, lastly today - there's a nice little article from DevArticles.com that shows you how to start thinking less like a general coder and more like a DBA when it comes to making your MySQL databases. If your tables are not set up properly, it can cause you a lot of headaches down the road when you have to perform multiple queries to your database in order to get the data you want. People take tables for granted, until they have to do JOIN that exceeds the tmp space just to get all the information that they need. This article gives you some good DB concepts that those just starting out with MySQL might not think of. Those out there that have the experience under their belt may not need this one though....
