First off this morning, from over on Builder.com, there's a new little piece about the Ten Commandments of Egoless Programming. Now, I know what you're saying - "I don't have an ego about my programming", but I bet you've got more of a one than you care to admit to. How many times have you looked at some of your past code, deemed it crap (despite it working), and rewritten the entire thing? Well, this article has a few things to keep in mind, especially in group project situations. There's really some good suggestions in here, but most seasoned vets of the programming world will (or should) already know them.
Also today, over on DevArtciles.com, there's a fun little article about using Apache and ForceType for nicer page URLs. For those wondering, ForceType allows you to turn this: http://www.mysite.com/animals.php?animalId=5&color=red into this: http://www.mysite.com/animals/pig/red. Pretty fun, huh? They give you a good explaination of all of the lines you'll need to add to your httpd.conf, and even a lesson on when it's really useful. I could see using this for a lot of things, but I could also see how it could get pretty badly abused if someone didn't know how to wield it correctly. You could get URLs that were just as long as the GET string was before...
And, lastly, just a brief mention to a site that really has been doing a much better job just reciently with their original content and good quality of those tutorials - PHPBeginner.com is workth checking out. I just wish they'd date their tutorials or provide a RDF or something...
