Well, will wonders never cease...It looks like PHPBuilder.com, though not the resource it once was, is still hanging on to something. They have a new article posted this morning about using PHP to create RTF documents (Rich Text Format). It's not as compliated as something like making a Word document, but it's pretty close. Check out the "source" of the RTF file on this bad boy - that's a little scary, even for experienced programmers. The article's an interesting idea, but it's not very practical. There's a page that lists the syntaxes for formatting the RTF document - but it all just seems a little silly just to make a document that probably would be okay as just plain text.
For all of you out there that program PHP in a bit more corporate environment, you know all about the topic of "feature creep" (unless you're just really lucky and have a boss who trusts you 100% - hah!). Anyway, Builder.com has a new article about this very topic, and how to keep it from happening. They give a few key tips on how to keep it under control (a certain amount of improvement is possible to an initial design), and how to keep this mindset all the way through the project. Wouldn't want to do it for only two weeks of a four week project. Now, if I can just get my boss quit with the "you know what would be nice?" statements...
