Well, today's pretty light on the PHP news, but I did manage to find some other articles that were pretty interesting this morning.
First off, there's a new piece over on Evolt.org about dealing with some of the problems that come with being a "webmaster" at a small to medium-size company. The Plight of the SME Webmaster talks about the ups and downs, the roles they have to fill and what kind of work environment that they find themselves working in. It's interesting to note that for a lot of you out there, I'm sure this pretty well describes what you do. Pretty much everything in this article is my workplace to a tee. There's times I envy those in larger, more corporate environments, though...
And, also today, over on Builder.com, they have a neat little piece on something that a lot of people are just now getting into, but don't think too much about - Keeping hackers out of your Web services. For most people, they want their web services to be availible for people to use, but they also need to make them "bulletproof" so that hackers (crackers) can't abuse them to gain access to systems or data they shouldn't. Remember, to a hacker, a web service is just another door - but they suggest some good ideas here, with a mix of certificates and public keys to create a SSL connection between the client and server.
