Multi-page CMS, PHPClasses.org, and PHP 4.2.0
Apr 23, 2002 @ 12:05:09

First off today, over on DevArtciles.com about making a multi-page content management system for your website. In this artcile, he shows you how (in both ASP and PHP, with a hefty helping of Javascript too) to create multiple pages with titles, content - the works. This isn't anything special, and is a pretty basic script with some nicer Javascript functionality to help you manage them a little bit easier. Each of the articles has a "page" in the database so that you can jump around within the pages of an article at will and not have to worry about next and back buttons to mess things up.

Also, rumor has it that our one and only PHPClasses.org is going to try to move to a new model that might allow Manuel Lemos to make a living off of the site. Some of the ideas that were offered up were more "personalized" settings for the site, forums for the more prominent/well-used classes, ad free pages (*shudder*), and, what I think would be great - a CD with all of the classes contained and organized on it. Do you guys think this'll work for him?
It's an honorable idea - I just hope that it works out for him. It seems like it's still the dream of a lot of people to make some sort of living from their beloved website. Trust me, if I could think of something cool to offer around here, I'd do it too...but, until then, PHPDeveloper.org will remain completely free.

Just in case you missed it also - PHP 4.2.0 is out, and the files are actually up for download right now. They have all of the packages out there, including the source (duh) and the Windows binaries. So, what are you waiting for....go upgrade!. (or you can take a look at the Changelog)
