Over on Evolt.org this morning, there's a new article about creating a CMS, or Content Management System, for your website. For those out there that think even the definition of CMS sounds like a load of buzzwords, here's the inside story. CMS system are the things that allow you to put any kind of content on your site, whether it be just text (like us), or images or PDFs, or just about anything. It just depends on your needs. This article helps you get into some of the thinking behind a nice, reliable CMS. It's the first in a series of articles all on the same topic.
Also today, on the SitePoint WebmasterBase website, there's a new piece covering The Cookie Conundrum. I know that most of you out there have faced this one at one time or another...you set something in a cookie, but will the user whose machine it's on get upset that you didn't ask first? More and more people are hearing of the threats that are associated with these handly little files, and are turing them off completely - making our job that much harder. In this article, they suggest "education first" about cookies before people/groups decide to loose them all together...
Well, it's not named yet, but the MySQL Dolphin seems closer to a name than ever - apparently they're taking their time with it (I can't imagine it's *that* high of a priority), but it'd still be fun to see if the name you submitted makes the cut. For a list of the "most submitted" names, check out this page.
Also, just a quick comment on one thing - there'd been some murmuring about the servernames in brackets on the sides of the links (ex. "[foo.com]"), and you'll notice that they're gone. They were slowing down the page load-time, and enough people didn't really care about them, so they've been removed...
