Well, first off this morning, DevShed.com has a brand spankin' new article about Error Handling In PHP. No developer, no matter how good he or she may be, writes error-free code all the time. Which is why most programming languages - including PHP - come with built-in capabilities to catch errors and take remedial action. For those that haven't discovered the power within the Error Handling in PHP, you should check this article out. They not only give you all of the E_* error states, but they also show you how to create your own error handler function to make more meaningful errors and to help your apps run more smoothly.
For all those out there struggling with the design of your site (I can sympathize), you should check out this article from Evolt.org. No, they don't give you design tips in the form of graphics and layout, but they do suggest some pretty useful ideas for making your site run better and faster. Some of the things that they mention are the use of CSS, how much of your page is images, and to use client-side scripting a bit sparingly...Oh, and to always, always remember - the majority of surfers still access the web on a 56k.
And, last, but not least, I wanted to get some opinions on a new site design for this site...Ilike the current look, but it's been missing something - plus I've wanted to do something with it since we started planning the PHP Developer's Network. So, I wanted to get your comments on this new design. It's quite a bit different, but it looks more "clean" and a little bit more like the other sites in the network. I think that would really help bring them together and help them feel a bit more cohesive..Leave your comments below...
