New Walrus, Rasmus Interview, PHP Regexp, and Zend
Feb 11, 2002 @ 14:31:17

Noe, they're not changing their look again...the EvilWalrus Group is just looking for a designer to help them out with a new logo. The current Walrus is great, but we need a more modernized Wally. With the changes going about, what better than a new logo to match.. So, if you'd like to contribute, email your idea(s) to Andrew and see what they think!

DynamicWebPages has a new link this morning to an interview with the one and only Rasmus Lerdorf. For those that have been living in a cave, Rasmus is the creator of what is now called PHP, but way back then was just a way to add neat features to his homepage. It's a fun little interview, nothing earth-shattering in here, but still a good read...

Now, I know this is something that tons of people out there have troule with or are intimidated by, but trust me - once you learn regular expressions, you'll thank me. I've only just started getting into them and they've already made my life easier. DevArticles.com has a new story posted on just this topic too. The article, PHP And Regular Expressions 101, gets into some of the very basics of regexps in PHP, including the functions you can use them with and the syntax of a regexp match. This is a nice, and pretty complete, reference for using them with your code - it doesn't get too indepth, but it doesn't need to - it's just an intro.

And, lastly, just as a quick note, the latest Zend Weekly Summary has been posted with things like negative array keys, the new build system and manual translations.
