The New Site, DevShed on Mail(), and NewbieNetwork

well, for a lot of you out there, this is your first look at the new site. There are still a lot of things that I need to take care of and a lot of things that are still just a little bit broken - but bear with me. The new site is up and running and I'm in total control. What does this mean for you? Well, more features, more involvement and more ideas. I want to hear from you guys about what you want out of this site. We've gotten up to the standard of about 30k hits a month and I want that to grow even more. I want everyone to be able to say that they've given something to this site to make it better - even if it's just the occasional comment (we have comments! woo!). So be sure to email me if you'd like to get involved or have any troubles with the new site...

Also today, DevShed has the latest in their series about making a PHP-based mail client. This article is part three in the series and details the heart of the client - how to compose, reply, and forward a message. They also get into PHP's upload capabilities for some of the MIME messages.

The NewbieNetwork has a new article this morning where he talks about one of the things that every programmer fears - picking up where someone else left off. In "Learning Other's Code", he looks into some good practices that will help you get the most out of browsing through someone else's code to get a grasp of what was going through their heads (sometimes, apparently not enough).
Speaking of the NewbieNetwork, he also submitted a neat Builder.com Article on an intro XPath. For those that don't know what XPath is - XPath is a language for addressing pieces of an XML document. An XML document is made of items such as elements and attributes. Using XPath, you can easily select one or more pieces of a document. It's very, very nice for picking just what you need from an XML document. Thanks newbienetwork for that cool little article.
