Well, once again, I hope that you're surrounded by loved ones this holiday - it's always more fun when you have someone to share it with. So, we here at PHPDeveloper.org hope you have a great New Years and a wonderful year to come.
We post a lot of things here that promote PHP and talk about how wonderful it is, but there are things out there that PHP just doesn't work well for. Someone took it upon himself to create a "shootout" of some of the major languages around today. One of them, PHP, scored fairly well, but not wonderfully (all of the red numbers are the ones that are below average). Thanks to DynamicWebPages.de for the link to this neat little article.
And, last but not least, a week just wouldn't be a week without a Zend Weekly Summary. There's nothing too exciting in this one, just a few small fixes with things like return values for floor() and ceil(), and the suggestion of the addition of "trusted connections" to PHP's MSSQL extension.
