John Allspaw, our distinguished head of FLOPs (Flickr Operations) has posted his slides for Hardware Layouts for LAMP Installations from his presentation at the Zend/PHP Conference.

The talk (PowerPoint) looks at the hardware behind a good LAMP installation rather than the software (that so many focus on). It looks at database configuration optimization, cahing, and a few general "lessons learned" by the Flickr team.
