According to this post on the Utah PHP Users Group website today, states that everyone's favorite web server, Apache, has passed the 50 million website mark in this month's Netcraft survey.

Although relative share fell by 0.67 percent, the total number of sites powered by Apache grew to over 52 million. Microsoft's IIS finished second with more than 15 million sites served.

For those of us that use Apache this really comes as no surprise - it's fast, flexible, and, best of all, free. What more could you want in a web server?
