On his blog today, Andi Gutmans talks a bit about the need for reporting for PHP - and how it seems to be on the horizion.
The main reason why I'm so excited about bringing this to PHP, is that like Jason stated, I've seen first hand that the majority of PHP applications have some kind of reporting needs, but a lot of time is spent on building reports and their queries from scratch.
Jason Weathersby, BIRT evanglist, just posted a blog entry giving some background for the need of reporting in the PHP world, and briefly mentions our plans for bringing the BIRT reporting system to PHP users.
He mentions, though, that the adoption of something like this could be slow if it's not presented to the community correctly. If it was presented in a simple, easy-to-integrate way and the level of awareness in the community was heightened, it just might work...
