Polite Request to the PHP Community

On TheOtherBlog.com today, there's this new post with a polite request for all of the PHP developers out there...

There are heaps of great web-based tools out there written in PHP. PHP is a language I am not hugely fond of (don’t get me started on curly brackets and the like) but it works, is supremely hackable and it’s free.

But no matter how great any tool is, it will need to be integrated with something else. [...] So, given that wouldn’t it be nice if when you downloaded your php tool, the tool could assume that it would be integration-ready and look in a "higher" folder for certain things?

The standards he mentions, while maybe not the best idea for larger apps, do serve as a good reminder to all developers out there - especially in this era of Web 2.0. Interoperability is becoming a key to most of the large apps out there, and the more you can open it up, the more use people will find. "Open it and they will come" sounds cheesy, but you see it more and more...
