Alexander Kirk has this new post today in light of the Zend announement made earlier yesterday, except he chooses to focus on the less controversial part of the announcement - the cooperation of Zend with the Eclipse project.
Why on earth Eclipse?! I think this is the most slowest IDEs available. It’s based on Java which makes it incredibly slow already and it’s so blown up that it’s unbelievable.
Can anyone explain to me why to use such a monster?
There has been rumor lately that Zend (developer of PHP) will release a PHP Framework. This is nothing new, there has been a IDE (Zend ) for a long time now. But it will be based on Eclipse.
I'm going to have to agree with him on this one - I've tried Eclipse in the past (with TruStudio) and found it large, slow, and not at all what I'd like to do my daily PHP work in. He also mentions one of my favorite editors - EditPlus. It may not have all of the bells and whistles that Zend Studio does, but it gets the job done...
