On the O'Reilly ONLamp.com site today, there's a new article called "A Day in the Life of #Apache (Or, Why I Hate the Apache Web Server)". It's part of a series from Rich Bowen on some of the goings on in the #apache channel on the freenode IRC network.
Today's article starts with "day thirteen" discussing his talk at ApacheCon Europe ("Why I Hate the Apache Web Server") and moves on into his first complaint - the Options directive in the Apache config.
Consider the following two examples (taken from the slide presentation): "Options +Indexes Includes MultiViews" and "Options Indexes Includes Multiviews". Now, these two examples appear almost identical, and it would appear that they should do the same thing. However, they don't.
He goes on to talk the rest of the time about more of the inconsistencies and misperceptions about the Options directive...
