Book Review - PHP 5 Objects, Patterns and Practice
Aug 22, 2005 @ 14:06:51

On Slashdot there's a new book review with a look at one of APress' latest offerings - "PHP 5 Objects, Patterns and Practice".

There are a metric ton of books out there that will walk you through PHP syntax -- this is not one of them. If you are looking for a book on rapidly developing prototype sites, or writing lots of HTML-embedded PHP, just keep looking. But if you have read even one of those books, or just felt like your programming style itself could use a little upgrade, then go get yourself a copy of PHP 5 Objects, Patterns, and Practice by Matt Zandstra.

The book is divided up into five parts - an introduction, a look at objects, patterns, some "best practices" information, and a few notes of conclusion. The reviewer liked the fact that the examples in the book are "real" - situations that any developer might come across every day. According to him, it's a definite recommendation - a must for all but the PHP newibes out there...
