Book Review - Spring Into PHP 5
Aug 11, 2005 @ 20:02:26

Slashdot has posted a new book review of one of the latest in Addison-Wesley's "Spring into..." series - Spring into PHP5.

A smarter approach is to learn the language basics in sequence as rapidly as possible, not getting bogged down in excessive sample code. For developers seeking to learn PHP using the latter approach, Steven Holzner's Spring Into PHP 5, published by Addison-Wesley, would be an excellent choice.

He seems to have mostly good things to say about this book - moves along at a good pace, explains enough but not too much, book is physically attractive - but there are a few things that might be distracting to someone new to the language (i.e. multiple options to complete one goal, but no favoring of one over the other). Overall, though, it seems to be a good beginner book, leading the way to higher level programming and providing a good, solid foundation...
