On Marco Tabini's blog today, he personally reponds to a few comments made over at The Register the other day about PHP's pending demise.
The Register reports that PHP (as well as other OSS languages) is on the wane, and that enterprise adoption of the language has either stopped or is slowing down considerably. Personally, I have a problem with jumping to conclusions based on a survey of all of 300 developers—it seems quite a bit thin. Then again, statistical analysis has always been one of my least-favourite branches of mathematics… and therefore I will avoid any further comment along these lines.
He talks about things from his (and php|architect's) perspective - as a company that's completely linked to PHP and how well it, as a programming language, does. If PHP fades, php|architect goes right along with it. Thankfully, he pretty much agrees that this artcile is full of it, and has seen the trends that the ret of us have been paying attention to - PHP is staying strong, growing even, and there's not much indication of a change in that...
