Alan Knowles has a new post over on his blog today that begs the question "Why are we code nazis?"
In some ways I have to agree, I dont like being told what is good or bad.. - buy I do enjoy reading the pro's and con's. Although a few hard core exception projects will probably be able to clarify their best uses. But this week has been the best illustration yet, about why I tend to rant on about good or better practices.
There was an amusing comment on my PDO post today, exposing how they hate being told what is good and bad, by us code nazis.
He steps through his experience in looking for an open source online shop, and his opinions on three of the major players out there - OSCommerce, Fishcart, and phpShop.
In the end, he decdided to just roll his own. Why? Because none of the other fit the project as well as he could with his own code. Granted, they all pretty much do the same thing - it's how they do it that's the problem. I'll be interested to see what he comes up with...
