Blane Warrene over on Open Sourcery has a pointer today to an article over on XML.com about securing an RSS feed.
Joe Gregorio wanted a way to syndicate content for himself and appears to be onto a method. With some tweaking perhaps this could also be explored as a way to distribute paid content to a restricted audience...?
In the article, the author seeks to solve his problem, "a pretty common problem" - he wants to syndicate data to just himself and no one else. His solution? use Greasemonkey. Using this handy tool for Firefox, he shows you how to create a sample encrypted feed full of information (using the blowfish cipher) which can then be interpreted and decrypted by the Greasemonkey script back on the user's side. Not a bad little idea, and, of course, he gives all the code you'll need to get it up and running yourself...
