Apache Friends Project
Jul 06, 2005 @ 14:32:26

In a link from a del.icio.us feed today, there's a link to the Apache Friends site - a non-profit looking to promote Apache.

Apache Friends is a non-profit project to promote the Apache web server. It was founded in the spring of 2002 by Kai 'Oswald' Seidler and Kay Vogelgesang. The following activities are our contribution towards promoting the web server and related technologies: Easy to use software, Easy to read documentation, and The creation of an online community for helping each other out should any questions or problems arise

They are also the home (as mentioned) of the XAMPP project - a simple, quick installation tool for setting up Apache, MySQL, PHP, and Perl on a server. They have different versions as well - Linux, Windows (NT/98/2000/2003/XP), a beta for Solaris, and a beta for OS X.

Anything that can further the cause of spreading the Apache/MySQL/PHP combo out to the masses even easier is a great effort in my books, so if you'd like to help out, or just share this great resource, head on over to http://www.apachefriends.org/en/...
