Atlanta PHP Users Group:
The Uniform Server (WAMP)
June 30, 2005 @ 13:25:31

The Atlanta PHP Users Group site has a post on it today about a new WAMP package that might make it even easier (and smaller) for you to set up and run a server on your Windows machine - UniformServer.

Most of you might have used XAMPP, Apache 2 Triad, and all those other big WAMP packages. Well, i am here to introduce you to a better solution. It is a new kind of WAMP package, though not new, it is better more mobile and portable than XAMPP and all the others. It allows you to run a Server right on any USB Flash Drive, or even your Camera's Flash Card! With it you can run a fully live prodution or test server, and best of all its secure. Its hack proof and safe to use.

The server itself is less than 5MB when downloading and also less than 25MB upon uncompressing. If you would like to try it out, please do so by going here: http://www.uniformserver.com.

It does look like a nice little setup, complete with administrative functionality built right into the setup. There's even a system tray icon with a ton of menus for you to make modifications, start/stop the server, and various other tasks - all without hitting the command line...
