PHP Magazine:
Book Review - Essential PHP Tools
Jun 23, 2005 @ 11:45:31

Over in PHP Magazines's Book Review section today, there's a new review of one of the latest APress offerings Essential PHP Tools by David Sklar.

Our Book Review section houses a review of Apress' 'Essential PHP Tools', written by David Sklar. "This book intends to simplify programming tasks through the use of add-on modules and packages. The intended audience is intermediate-to-advanced, although I believe it is also of great use to the uninitiated.

The Introduction provides a solid introduction to the use of PEAR and the command line interface, making it easy to install the PEAR libraries referenced in the text." Read more, for a chapter by chapter breakdown, style points, code usability, and the lowdown.

From the sound of the review, the book seems like a good resource for more advanced users - not those looking to just get into PHP (though the reviewer does mention that it could be of use to 'the uninitiated'). The only low point that the reviewer saw, however, wasn't with the content, but with the layout of the materials....
