In a new post from Christian Wenz on his blog today, there's mention of a new (German) book called the PHP 5 Kompendium.
They discuss all of the other aspects of PHP, inlcuidng how it interacts with Javascript/Java, working with Flash and XML, and dynamically produced diagrams. They demonstrate how to do all of this in all of the major OSes - Windows, Linux, and MacOS X (as well as showing how to setup and work with various web servers and database servers).
We know that everyone says it about the final result of their own book, but we're very happy with the final result, and hopefully the readers will be too. Happy reading!
Since PHP5 is so flexible, this book follows the same vein: from basic techniques, to object-oriented programming, all the way up to a fullly developed site - all with established professional knowledge given the whole way.
Looks like it's a good resource, mainly targeted towards those just getting started with PHP and web page development. It is very comprehensive, though - it might not deal with some of the more specialized PHP extensions, but it does seem to provide a good, solid base for anyone looking to jump in...
