From FirePages.com.au, there's a handy little tool that those without a machine to travel with might find interesting - AMP on USB (or how to get an Apache/MySQL/PHP installation running from a USB drive).
[...] A USB flash drive install is even easier since we don't have to worry about non-writable media, the point of this article by the way is to provide a portable system with no hard-coding of drive paths etc.
AMP on a USB ...whyfor ? I dunno ;), there are several possible uses , the most obvious being demonstrating your wares to a potential client on their computer , but the possibilities should be obvious to any PHP heads who in general I find are quite an inventive bunch.
He gives some simple specs on a USB drive (just about any will do), and, using PHP 5.0.3, Apache 2.0.50, and MySQL (any version), he steps you through how to create this handy little tool you can take just about anywhere with a USB port.
Note: this installation runs the Windows version of the software, not any of the *nix flavors. Those still require libraries on the local system to get them to work 100% correctly...
