PHPMagazine:
Latest PHPBarnstormer Released! (#47)
Jun 10, 2005 @ 17:07:52

PHPMagazine has posted their latest PHPBarmstormer today - Issue #47

In the latest issue of PHPBarnstormer, Aaron writes, "PHP 5.1 has been put on the fast track for an initial release. However, it hasn't yet been decided which version number will be used for the release that follows it. So far, community members have been referring to it as PHP 5.2. However, this week, in Andi's PHP 5.1 announcement, he laid out the plan for PHP 5.5/6 and set a tentative release date for the Q3 2005. The main feature of PHP 5.5/6 will be the Unicode support that Andrei has been working on for the past few months; after 5.1 is released a new branch will be created and Andrei's work will be merged into the main tree." Read this, and all the important scoops and announcements from the PHP, PEAR, and PECL mailing lists, along with a detailed listing of the latest PEAR and PECL packages.

PEAR/PECL Releases posted this week include: HTTP_Session2-0.2.0 (alpha), File_Archive-1.4.1 (stable), XML_Serializer-0.16.0 (beta), PHPUnit2-2.2.1 (stable), and pecl_http-0.8.0 (beta).
