A Review of WordPress 1.5 (Blogging Tool)
Jun 07, 2005 @ 11:23:55

With all of the blogging tools out there today, which one is a good match for what you want to do with your site? Well, if you've been considering WordPress as one of your alternatives, you might want to take a bit and check out this review of WordPress 1.5 to get a few other opinions.

Wordpress is one of the most popular blogging tools around, and it has earned that reputation. Originally, WordPress was called b2, which was a PHP blogging tool but a lot less popular. Back then, b2 wasn't very much used, and MovableType was the king of the hill. But a few developers, mainly Matt Mullenweg and Alex King decided to release a new blogging tool based on b2. b2 was Open Source, so they could do this without any problems, just as WordPress is Open Source as well.

They go through some of the standard items to look at when considering your next blog tool - installation, ease-of-use, a few notes about the theme editor, and some information about the community/support surrounding the project.

It seems like just about everywhere I go, I see either Wordpress or MovableType powering ninty-percent of the blogs out there...

Thanks to PHP Magazine for the pointer.
