Installing Apache 2, PHP 5 on OS X 10.3.8
Apr 15, 2005 @ 13:08:17

PHPMac.com has a new posting today showing you how to get Apache 2.0.52 and PHP 5.0.4 installed on Mac OS X 10.3.8.

For anyone that has been wishing to switch to Apache 2 on their Mac, this is the time to do it. PHP 5 has also recently been updated and this tutorial describes in detail, the best method to both build and install these programmes on your Mac.

Since Apple don't include Apache 2 with OS X yet I have felt it better to keep Apache 2 in its own directory, and to keep PHP for Apache 2, etc. confined the that directory too.

He steps you through each bit of the way, giving you configure lines, commands, and the necessary httpd.conf lines to get it all working. Thankfully, it's become a very simple task to get it all installed - once you've done it a few times, you "get in the groove" of it and know what to look out for. There's even a frequent issues list of things to look out for (including libXML2 issues, and a possible error with the Apache configure statement).
