For users of the PostgreSQL database that have wanted an easy way to install it on a Mac-based platform, a new package from the PostgreSQL group just might interest you.

The newly created pgsqlformac project on SourceForge.net is a project aimed at leveraging PostgreSQL and an open source development approach that targets the Mac OS X market with an easy to install and manage Database Server.

Today, the Mac has become an excellent alternative to Windows, and with it's Unix-like underpinnings, it has the potential to revolutionize small business deployments. What it lacks is an easy to use and cost effective Database solution that can scale from a single machine to an enterprise ready solution. PostgreSQL fulfills the back end, and with Graphical tools written in the native Cocoa toolkit on Mac OS X, these tools aim to fill the easy to use.

It's good to see that some developers out there are realizing the strengths of the Mac platform and using its BSD-based backend to their advantage...
