In a new posting from Dynamically Typed today, Thomas Rutter wants to help you make your code a little cleaner and leaner - helping you with some PHP speed optimizations.
In this post he brings up a few interesting ideas: the suggested fact that single quotes are faster than double quotes, where to really focus your optimization efforts, and a note to compare the cost of the time spent on the optimization versus the gain for the end user.
Some of the comments make note of one thing, however - simple things like "making all your quotes single-quotes" really are pretty far down on the list for things that will speed up your application. If you're really looking for a good way to help speed things up, you should check out a "profiler" (as suggested by a commentor) such as Zend Studio and Xdebug...
