GoDaddy Offers Free SSL Certs
Feb 21, 2005 @ 13:21:24

Ilia Alshanetsky has a quick new posting that I know a lot of Open Source developers out there will find interesting - especially those looking into doing secure applications.

GoDaddy has announced that they will be giving away 1 year Turbo SSL certificates to qualifying Open Source projects. To find if you are applicable visit their request form at: https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/ssl/ssl_opensource.asp.

From the signup page: Why Free? Go Daddy is committed to the open source community. We want your site and data to be secure - and we're willing to foot the cost to make them just that. So be our guest. Secure your Open Source project with a one-year Turbo SSL Certificate, absolutely free from Go Daddy; no strings attached. Just fill out the attached fields and hit submit.

I think it's great that someone is stepping up to the plate and providing this kind of offer to the developers out there that might not have been able to justify the costs involved with using a real SSL certificate (goodbye self-signed!)
