PHP Magazine:
Latest PHPBarnstormer Released (#33)
Feb 14, 2005 @ 13:13:53

In a new note from PHP Magazine today, they're announcing the release of the latest issue of their PHPBarnstormer column from Aaron Wormus.

Volume #33 of your favorite PHPBarnstormer carries news on Wez putting PDO development and testing into overdrive, Debian shipping its version of PHP 4.3.10 with the experimental Zend Thread Safety turned all on all SAPIs, querie being raised on XMLReader's experimental little brother - XMLWriter, finding out what version of PHP Zend Engine you are using, that things may finally get rolling on moving the documentation over to the livedoc system, and that we might see PHP in Pails in the not so distant future. Ilia Alshanetsky said, "C++ is not PHP and the sooner you realize this the better it will be. Adding operator overloading will add yet another layer of "magic" that will confuse users, who for the most part have demonstrated that they are not ready for such features.", regarding the addition of a patch that adds operator overloading to PHP 5.1. And, this week's "discussion-that-wouldn't-end" award goes to the PHP 5.1 thread on PHP Internals mailing list.

PEAR/PECL items mentioned this week include: File_Passwd-1.1.2 (stable), Services_Ebay-0.11.0 (alpha), HTTP_Download-1.0.0RC6 (beta), PDO-0.2.1 (beta), and ssh2-0.6 (beta).

With all that went on this past week, it's good to have resources like this to keep it all in one place...
