php|symphony Announced!
Feb 11, 2005 @ 13:25:02

In a new announce ment from the folks over at php|architect, they've developed a series of online talks by some of today's leaders in the PHP world - php|symphony.

The first talk is Mastering PHP Security (for $29.99) and covers topics such as: Common attacks and how to avoid them, Planning for secure development, Creating a secure development platform, Avoiding common mistakes, Security and third-party software, Security vs. efficiency, and Auditing code.

From Davey Shafik, on of the organizers: The software has a fully interactive text chat between the speaker and the other people in the session. Also (and more importantly), the speaker will be talking using voice chat, so speakers/headphones are a definite neccessity. The speaker has the ability to pass the "mic" to anybody participating (so a microphone could be useful), but there is the a full text chat, so its not a neccesity. Furthermore, the speaker has the ability to show slides to the participants - the full experience is there! The software is a custom Flash solution and only requires a 28.8Kbps modem to participate! We have also verified that the software works on Win9x+/Mac OSX/Linux, so most everyone will be able to participate.

So, if you've been looking for a good PHP-related session to attend but just didn't quite have the time to get out to one of the conferences - let the conference come to you! Other upcoming topics include: Maximizing PHP Performance and Migrating from PHP 4 to PHP 5.
