With the announcement of their latest product, Zend has more information on Zend Platform, the PHP runtime environment that delivers the reliability, scalability and interoperability needed for enterprise-class PHP applications. For the first time, Web application managers have unparalleled error detection and recovery capabilities, top-notch performance and configuration control, as well as seamless integration to corporate back-ends.

So, what does that mean for us out in userland here? Well, Zend Platform provides a base for your code, providing custom alert definition, PHP server setup (both automatic and custom), higher performance levels, even a PHP/Java integration bridge (letting you and your Java/J2EE applications play nicely with PHP).

It does look interesting, and it is good to see something come out that is more than just a small server add-on, but I wonder how many companies out there will buy into something like this when, chances are, they have admin and setups that they like/use already (and who wants to break things when you don't have to?).
